A Contest to Draw You Into Pentecost and Prayer Walk Four

Below I have for you a post different then those I have made before. This coming Sunday, as you may know, is Pentecost. The day in the life of the Church when we remember when God sent his Spirit to equip the Church to spread the love of Jesus to the world. As such, I couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate this time, than for me to simply read the passage of scripture where we hear about this event for the first time.

I’ll apologize in advance for the recording quality of the recording. I realized halfway through that one of the recording settings I had goofed on, but the words come across alright. But to make it up to you, I have a contest. Whoever can best identify all the places I goof up in this reading, either with the words or editing, will get a prize. While this may seem like an odd thing to do, know it is a trick to get whoever takes me up on the challenge pay particularly close attention to the passage! Leave your answers in the comments below, and I’ll select the winner on Friday.

A Sermon from Youtube to Rev You Up

I also wanted to include this video that is an excerpt from Pentecostal pastor (it would just feel wrong to not have something from a charismatic minister on Pentecost after all), S.M Lockridge. Lockridge was a prominent figure in the civil rights movement in the 1960s and 70s, and to this day, I have yet to hear a single better 6 minute summary of just why it is that the God we follow is worth getting excited about.

I hope it sticks with you like it did for me.

Prayer Walk #4

Finally, I have for you the fourth MacGregor EMC Prayer walk!

Now, I have received some criticism from a few of the more active people in our congregation (not the bad kind of criticism, as much as the “we want a reason to justify really getting out there” encouraging kind), that our prayer walks up until this time have been a bit on the short side. Well, for you (you know who you are), I give you prayer walk #4, and it is in the ballpark of 2 miles. Feel free to drive it if you need to.

This walk will take you by the church, the schools, several member homes, businesses, as well as let you see some of God’s great green creation in order to recharge your souls.

All these are things that after 3 months of social distancing, I dare say are very much so in need of prayer, so get out there!
