Updates from MEMC
/MacGregor EMC has been up to a number of big things this past week, so I figured why not share them? I am thankful for each.
Kidz Connect
This past Wednesday marked the launch of Kidz Connect, a midweek children’s ministry for grades 3-6, open to the whole town. Talking to some of the volunteers of the night, it was a great time, bringing in both church and non-church kids alike!
Coming into the church the next day, I even saw that the kids did some fun sculpting work with salt-doe, as their beautiful and awesome artwork was on display. I hope you will get to see them yourself.
Volunteers for Kidz Connect come from not only our congregation but a number of others in the community as well, so the program is truly a coming together of the churches to care for the children of our town!
I am so thankful for everyone who volunteered and put in the hard work to make this ministry a reality!
The Backyard Development
A number of months back, MacGregor EMC voted to put up a picnic shelter and children’s play area in our backyard to make the area more usable during the bright and sunny summer months. Well, a full summer of delays later - which awesomely translated into money savings - and the posts are now in for the picnic shelter! The trusses also arrived this week, so expect to see something amazing soon. While this sadly means it is unlikely the shelter will get much use this year barring an exceptionally mild winter, this means it will be good to go the moment spring arrives!
I am again so very thankful for everyone who has been hard at work in getting this project planned and off the ground!
If you want to check the shelter out yourself up close and personal, there will be a work day at MacGregor EMC this coming Saturday, Oct 29, at 9am. We would love to have you!
The Return of the Annual MEMC Thanksgiving Meal
I sadly did not take pictures of the night, so please let this wonderful artwork by Chantel Roulette suffice. It was drawn at some point after the meal was done on the chalkboard in the Adult Sunday school class. If you are reading this Chantel, know that without a hint of insincerity in me, stumbling upon this made my day! Much appreciated!
But the meal went amazingly, and I want to give such a big thank you to all of you who volunteered to set up, clean and cook. It was truly a wonderful return to tradition after all these years of lockdown.
The program after the meal also was great, but I won’t say much on that now as you can expect that in a future post once the audio for the service is edited, that service will find its way up on the blog as a post of its own.
I shared this during the Thanksgiving Service the other night, but when I look back over the past year one of the things I am most thankful for are all my family and friends at MacGregor EMC. While on the one side, since I am the pastor of the church it might sound cliched for me to say that, like how many of us can never quite trust a compliment from our parents as they “have to say those nice things”, it is also very easy to say nothing at all if you don’t believe something to be true. So know I say this because I mean this:
I am thankful for all of you.
